Not worth the £ - By: , 02 Oct 2004
I have just finished first year at uni & was told by my department that i must buy this book for first year. I hardly used it. The content is not veryin depth at all, so its not much use for writing essays, as you end up having to get a million better books out of the libary.
Some reviewers have said its great for beginners & good at spliting topics down into sections for revision, however they obviously have not read many psychology text books! If you are new to the subject there are much better books out there (in terms of content & layout) - for example try Nicky Hayes 'The Foundations of Psychology'.
Brilliant! - By: K. Ishikawa, 07 Jul 2004
This book is great for those of us who have never studied psychology before. It's easy to read, but still has all the information you need. Each chapter has a summary of all the main points, which is definitely worth reading through the night before a test!
This book also has the code to access the website, which is utterly fabulous. It's updated weekly with news articles on psychology (and a list of which articles deal with issues raisedin chapter one, chapter two, etc), multiple choice tests on each chapter (handy practice!), crosswords to test your knowledge of new vocabulary & various animations of hard-to-visualize ideas.
Buy this book - you'll regret it if you don't!
A great book and a good read! - By: , 12 Oct 2000
To say that this is too simplistic is very unfair to both book & author. It is easy to understand & this is mostly due to how well written it is. Highly recommended!

Covers the basics but notin enough depth. I'min my first year at Uni, & most of us tend to think that it's a bit too simplistic. It's easy read, but there are better books such as Richard Gross
