Pompeii rises phoenix-like - By: Ian Teiger, 29 Jul 2008
It is all too easy to read of tragic historical events without empathy for the people to whom they happened.Stanley Salmons has created a fiction based on well researched facts such that the reader cannot fail to be moved by a cataclysm which really did happen to people with lives & emotions just like you & I.
The mysterious disappearance of Professor of archeology Julian Lockheart while on a dig to uncover some new finds on the foothills of Vesuvius,is the background for an investigative thriller as good as any of its genre.
This book could only have been written by a scientist whose attention to detail is superb

A real page-turner - By: H. Baum, 03 Jul 2008
This is a beautifully plotted & immaculately researched contemporary thriller/historical drama. Great holiday reading - but don't read it if you are on holiday near Naples. You will be anxiously expecting earth tremors!
