A poorly written waste of my time - By: L. Tocher, 07 Nov 2008
I struggled mightily with this book & gave up half way through. Carlton Leach is a singularly unlikable individual with a rather strange outlook on life. I've enjoyed stories of hard menin the past (McLean, Shaw etc.) but Leach is just a mindless idiot pumped full of steroids & recreational drugs hiding behind a gun or a knife. I can't think of one redeeming quality he exhibitsin the pages I choked down.
I'm sure he's tough enough & have no doubt that he did most (if not all) of what he claims, but by the time I gave up on the book I couldn't give a hoot. I don't mean Leach any harm; I just hope that he's exhausted his literary ambitions & will save an unsuspecting public from further assault.
The book may have been more appealing if the publisher had employed a decent ghost writer - but this is so badly written I might just believe that Leach wrote it himself. Worst of all, the book is boring...
This is my first review for Amazon, & I wish it was more positive - but try as I might I cannot recommend "Muscle" to anyone.
Electrifying - By: Jma Pinero-rey, 11 Sep 2008
It took me a couple of days to read this book. It is a real eye opener into the underworld of gangsterism & mafia. At times the statements were a little scary but, I felt, truthful.
This book tells the story of Carlton Leach & his friendship with Nigel Benn & the Essex boys. There are stories of his life & how the underworld of drugs functions. His account of the murders & his days of the doorman & security at the famous Ministry of Sound is excellent.
I am now reading Bloggs 19. These books are recommended for anyone interestedin gangland accounts. Highly recommended.
SMILE FOR YOUR NEXT BOOKCOVER!!!! - By: Jason Thorne, 02 Jul 2007
Let's start off with Mr Leach is not a man to mess with he looks the part & that's just on the cover of the book. You would certainly want him on your side if you wherein a spot of bother & not knocking on your front door looking for you. In all this was a very good account of the underworld which you can believe or not it's up to you. I enjoyed this book & it will certainly be stayingin my book collection.
Muscle - By: Denise Fencebolt, 20 Dec 2006
Carlton Leach looks the part & sounds the part, he is what he say's he is...HARD!
Whether you read this book & feel that, he led either a somewhat charmed life or stretches the truth a little is for you to decide. To me, this was an easy read about a man who lost close friends whilst living a very perilous lifestyle.
This book is written with real emotion by a man who usually leaves emotion at the front door & although not the longest bookin the pile still deserves a placein it.
A decent account - By: CRAZY GIRL, 06 Jan 2006
I do not agree with the one star review. These books are thoroughly checked, as many people could sue if they were wrong. I am sure that the Gunfight at the OK Coral that is well documentedin Western films was far fetched, but that is how it is, the incident still took place, as are the stories within this tomb.
I think it fair to congratulate the author for putting it so well &in a neat package, good on him ... I enjoyed it. The only negative point is the way I saw it & the way it was put across, but I still understood it enough. One read did it for me, how about a follow up? Or is there one already out?
