A Book for whom, exactly? - By: Kentish Woman, 26 Nov 2008
The book is, as other reviewers have said, misnamed, since virtually no actual making is involved; instead it offers ideas on how to decorate ready made items. It offers no challangesin terms of craftsmanship;indeed, from the sewing skills involved, it would seem to be aimed at primary children, but I can not imagine any child wanting to make these projects. A pointless book, allin all.
More adorn than make - By: J. Taylor, 21 Nov 2008
I have to say I was really disappointed with this book & it would be better entitled 'Embellish' or 'Adorn.' No single project is made from scratch as each project starts with the main item already bought or already owned.
Good coffee table book for CK fans but not really crafty - By: SlayerKat, 09 Nov 2008
It looks like opinion is divided on this book so I've opted for an average rating. I actually really like the book for what it's worth. I paid £4.99 for my copy but did not get the free extras which was a bit disappointing. It's a good quality, colour coffee table book that's bright & cheery & nice to flick through the pages. However as already pointed outin several reviews, there is nothing to actually 'make' here, it's all embellish. I don't know how many of the projects I will undertake because given the choice I would rather BUY Cath Kidston products than customise them myself but you never know, they might make a nice rainy day craft project. What I do like about the book is the copyright free templatesin the back & the patterns that you can use on any projects so I'm sure it will comein useful some day. Otherwise I just like to look at the colourful pictures.
Great book for the credit crunch! - By: AngelicOne, 29 Oct 2008
I am a huge Cath Kidston enthusiast, so I jumped at the opportunity to get this book & make my own projects using Cath's own motifs, & with 16 motifs & 30 projects to choose, & a free tote bag to get started, I thought this was a pretty good deal.
The book is suitable for both beginner & the semi-pro crafters & includes a section at the back of basic sewing tips & techniques. With the current mood for make-do-and-mend, I think some personalised projects with the aid of this book would make good christmas presents on a budget.
brilliant - By: alice conner, 17 Oct 2008
I think it's a smashing book. With different levels of skills it means it can be used for both adults & children & makes a great present for those cold wintery days when you want to stayin & be creative.
i love it
