good classics but some preperation needed - By: Garry R. Walls, 26 Jun 2008
The book its self is well written with fairly good diagrams. It makes easy reading & each trick is easy to follow & pick up BUT....most of the tricks need a certain amount of preperation. Not a lot, but such items as a frozen fly, a sculpted carrot or a pre bended spoon are required. The tricksin this book are classics & may entertain your friends , however, i was looking for simple coin tricks, mind tricks & things that didnt need any preperation before hand so that they could be done at a moments notice.
Bad magic - By: Jack Hobartson, 19 Jul 2007
This is not as good as other reviewers seem to think but I've given it 2 marks on the basis it mayin fact be a children's book, which might explain the juvenile attempts at humour throughout. I say thoughout, but I didn't get any where near finishing - it really is that good.
Worth the money - By: Marco, 28 Jun 2007
It is an enjoyable book. I will not regret buying it if you enjoy learning magic routines. A couple of notes:
1. the book is not specifically aimed at routines for pros, it is rather for people that want to "freak out" their friends. Tricks are shown to be made not as part of a show (although some may be used) but ratherin day to day situations.
2. The level of tricks is uneven, most are really enjoyable, a couple are tricks that I knew whan I was 12...
Allin all it is worth the money.
A good introduction - By: I. Thomson, 25 May 2007
I bought this book more out of curiosity than anything else. I have always enjoyed the more visual/gross side of magic & this book does not disappoint. There is a good mix of tricks laid out very clearlyin text & visually as well. The kids love the nose breaking trick & have already used it on a number of their friends. I would really reccommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good few tricks to use down the pub, at work or just to freak out friends or relatives. The forkin the eyeball trick is an absolute must for any halloween party!!.
Great Magic Book! - By: Sean Taylor, 11 Nov 2006
As an amateur magician for many years I'm always intrestedin new books on magic for the public. This one is excellent. Pete has brought the beginners magic book up to date with modern tricks that appeal to todays audiences. Its not all card tricks, i rounded up stuff from around the house & at the pub & impressed my pals.
My teenage kids love this book too & have already fooled their mother with a couple of the tricks.
I would recommend this book to anyone interestedin magic or people who like shocking their mates.
