An Excellent book - By: rupetherunner, 11 Aug 2008
This book is exceptional for the money. Dorling Kindersley's usual excellent formatting means that the book is easy to read & beautifully illustrated. In the past, the one criticism that I'd make about some of their books is that the information contained within sometimes didnt quite match the standard of the photography. However this book has very concise & detailed information making it useful for both experienced enthusiasts as well as newcommers to Astronomy & indeed, anyone who has an interestin Science as it covers everything from atoms right up to galactic super-clusters. If you want one reference guide to Astronomy or Cosmology then you won't go far wrong with this. Recommended.
A fascinating look at the universe - By: Mark, 02 Aug 2008
This book contains some stunning pictures (about 200 of them) & just says enough about each one to make me think wow. Many of the pictures do that before you read anything about them. I like the way the book takes you on a journey from earthin to deep deep space. For me a little more information on the structure & make-up of each object would have been good, & more easily added in, an idea of scale of the object. We are given how far from us they are but not how wide across. It is still enjoyable though & it seems like very good value for the quality, content & size of this harback.
