A Scattering - By: A. Harris, 26 Jun 2010
A beautiful, scattered (yet perfectly cohesive) collection of thoughts, memories & beautiful images of the poet's late wife. Recapturing the last of her life, & the beginnings of his new one, & never at any point letting the vast cavernous depth of his grief taint the times he recounts. Stronly recommended - particularly for someone like myself, who didn't even consider herself a fan of poetryin the first place.
A wonderful book - By: A. P. MacPherson, 07 Jun 2010
I heard the author talk about his book on Radio 5 & ordered it straight away. It has not disappointed. An emotional book without sentimentality which I am sure I will re-read many times over the coming years. Both sad & uplifting.
Moving poetry - By: G. Day-Lewis, 04 May 2010
A most moving collection by Christopher Reid, paricularly about the unexpected, catching times & places of bereavement. No self-pity - instead a celebration of Lucinda & the intimacy of their lives.

'A Scattering ' by Christopher Reid is tragic, but beautifully tragic. Coleridge said that poetry was the 'best wordsin the best order' & Reid does exactly this. There is nothign difficult about the poetry, but is is immensely movingin it's quiet, simple way. It is one of those works which makes you pause & appreciate all every personin your life. It makes you realise that life is hort & that we should appreicate every moment with those we know & love. It is a sad book, but one which should be read by everyone, regardless of whether they like poetry or not; it's tribute & message are simple, but they are thing which should be repreated again & again.

I think that everyone who has loved, or who longs to love, should read these poems.
There is such poignancyin loss but who would choose not to feel such love .
