Engaging, challenging, different - By: , 09 Jul 2005
God's generals 1 & 2 are both big books to read & digest probably over a few weeks at least! That said, they're rarely hard going because the stories are so gripping.
Roberts has devoted much of his life to finding out the real stories behind famous men & women who've been used by God to change the world for the better.
Because it's real life he's talking about the stories will not only encourage, challenge & make you hungry for God - but they'll also confuse you. That also turns out good though because it makes you go & talk to God himself about the stuff.
I prefer God's generals 1 - which looks at people who livedin the 20th Century. God's generals 2 is about the reformers such as Wycliff, Calvin, John Huss (I did like him a lot), John Knox (I really struggle to understand some of the stuff he did) & Fox (the Quaker guy - really like him!)
If you want to get the inside story on major eventsin church history & have a great read as well - get these books.
