Small book - great writer - By: , 14 May 2003
First of all, this isn't a Bandini novel. This work tends to be more "sentimental". Is that a bad thing? Some people think so. I don't agree with them. In this damaged world we can't have enough writers like John Fante. Of course,in this work religion & family are all over the place. If you're searching for magicin the daily routine, you found it here.

This isn't a Bandini novel! This book tends to be more "cute" than his other writings. Once again, religion & Italian family are the main themes. (Joyce (Fante's wife): "But I do pray for you. And for the baby. And for world peace. Reaction: She was suddenly irresistible ...). This kind of books makes it actually fun to read. I mean, it isn't James Joyce-material, but this kind of books really mean a lot to me. Fante really looks for the "magicin the daily routine".
NOT the Fante I've come to love - By: , 19 Aug 1999
The Road to Los Angeles; & Ask the Dust!!! 2 fantastic books. Raw, perceptive. Full of Life felt like a 'nice' book. Family, expectant fatherhood. OH! It was so sweet. I've come to like the Bandini stories. Fante pulls out all the stopsin the other books. I got about half-way through Full of Life & stuck it on the shelf
