"you alone are responsible for yourself" - By: Alejandra Vernon, 24 Oct 2002
I've been reading self-help material since my youth, & this small book, which is the size of my hand & the width of my little finger, is a distillation of the best of all of them...pearls of wisdom, extracted from the ocean of spiritual truth.
It is not writtenin Paramahansa Yogananda's usual rich style, & he has obviously kept this very abreviated & concise for a reason. There are no cute stories & "fillers" to illustrate his points, & at times his directness could be labeled "tough love".

"Attunement with the Divine Will is the most important factorin attracting success".
The main theme of the book is beingin harmony with the Divine Will, saying it is man's highest obligation.
If one follows the principlesin this book...the guidelines for meditation (pg.28), & eliminating fear, "Fear Exhausts Life Energy" (pg. 22), are essentials...freedom, happiness, & success will follow.

In "The Need for Self-Analysis" (pg. 16), the great guru describes another essential, which is finding one's missionin life, saying that though the ultimate purpose is to return to God, "...you also have a task to performin the outer world", & he cautions (on pg. 30) that the things one may "want", but actually not "need", could be detering you from that objective.
This pocket-sized book is a treasure, powerful, & amazingly helpful.

If you buy one self-help book, make it this one - By: , 26 May 1999
In a short & concise form, Yogananda explains exactly what the title suggests - the law of successs. Other books spend hundreds if not thousand of pages & yet cover only some of the essential truthsin this wonderful little book.
THE TRUTH MADE SIMPLE - By: , 22 Nov 1998
For the process of discovery to be saidin so few few words;complete with method is a treat for most busy minds to embrace. All one need do is practise & trust, life as it should be.
A thorough presentation of the prerequisites to success - By: , 19 Nov 1998
In a style that is concisely deductive, the author presents,in this short booklet, the meaning of success, the methods for its achievement, & the principles underlying those methods.

The booklet conveys with clarity, methods that an individual can immediately put into practice. All that is needed is a few minutes of perusal rather than hours of wading through several hundred pages. Among other things, booklet treats positive thinking, introspection, self control, & above all, harmony with the Divine plan.

In an age when men want to succeed, not only materially & mentally, but also spiritually, the methods presentedin this book are apt.
