Great Christian Fiction for everyone - By: Ms. Naomi J. Bowdler, 13 Jan 2008
I have read this whole series a number of times. I come from a Christian family who have worked for the Lordin Nepal for most of my childhood. I have always gone to church, my schoolsin Nepal were Christian & most of my friends - Christian. But on returning back to Britain & growing upin a growing materialistic country, my faith has had all too many lows.

But i read this book & i finish within 2 days. I read 'An Echo In The Darkness' & i'm finished almost straight away. Suddenly my life is put into perspective & I am reduced to tears & pleading to the Lord for forgivness of my sins. It is inspiring how Hadassah manages to be so strongin her faith after seeing such harrowing scenes & being intwine with those who dispise her race & her faith the most.

Hadassah is brought to Rome after the Romans obliterate the Jews & spread her race across a number of cities. She becomes a slave to the Valerian family & is given as personal handmaid to Julia Valerian. For over 5 years she stays with her & loves her & is repulsed by julia's way of life & slowly watches her commit terrible sin after terrible sin. Yet still loves her like a sister & prays for her constantly.
On the otherhand she fallsin love with Julia's older brother who lives to please himself & to increase his wealth. Marcus & Hadassah's relationship grows painfully slowly but the conversations between them are intense & inspiring to any reader.
Her commitment to the family is reflectedin her prayers for all members of the family & her LOVE for serving them rather than just her obediant service.

I then go on to read the last bookin the series 'As Sure As The Dawn' & again i am inspired by Atretes determination.
In 'A Voice In The Wind' we see him go from a respected tribesman who loved his family & those around him & fought to keep his men safe, to a captured slave passed from Roman hand to Roman hand, from Ludos to Ludos, where he has to fight to entertain the Romans. He has to kill other innocent slaves for no other reasons than to gain freedom & to entertain the mob. After he is freed his relationship with Julia Valerian comes to an explosive end & he is plagued by dreams that only Hadassah can interpret for him while she awaits death.
His story is continuedin the final book.

My faith doubles & triples when i read these books & I am filled with a new longing to tell the good news to my friends & to pray & give my life to the Lord again & again. This book is a good pushin life & then it's up to us to keep the passion going.

To keep being like Hadassah.
Without a doubt, the best - By: love reading, 25 Nov 2007
All three booksin the Mark of the Lion series are the best I have ever read. Even if you're not a Chrisitian they are still the best story you will ever read. I don't know anyone who doesn't absolutely adore them & I have given them to all my friends. I have never been this moved or this engrossedin a story. Make sure you read all three books. These are an absolute must & you arein for such a treat! I promise.
Brilliant - By: Mrs. N. Haigh, 02 Jul 2007
This is a book I've not been able to put down.. It was given to me as a gift, & probably one of the best gifts I've recievedin a very long time. I'm now getting the second one, & cant wait to start reading. I've been captivated by the message the book gives, & find I cant stop thinking about Hadassah, & her difficult journey, & how it relates to our own lives.

The book is discriptive, & it gives you a very clear picture of what went onin those crewel times, & how difficult it was for Christians as well as Jews. It gives some history & feeling & insight into Jesus's time, & I'm sure will help with reading the Bible, which I'd now like to start reading.

If nothing else, this book is an eye opener, & if you are looking for a good read, or a message of hope & love, then this is your book. It has something for everyone, & you wont be able to put it down once you start.

I definately recomended Francine Rivers - A Voicein the Wind. Plese read it.
well written, interesting plot but... - By: R. Baggerly, 05 May 2006
I kept feeling as if I was reading a trashy romance novel. I don't read trashy romance novels, so could be completely off the mark here. I felt tricked into reading it as it seemingly had the sanction of Christians. The opposite of good worksin strange ways.

I also felt like the characters were thinking & speaking as if they livedin the 21st Century.

Isn't there anybody else who thinks the way I do about this book?
best book ever read - very suitable for men - By: Irnbru4u, 12 Apr 2006
This is one of the first book written by Rivers which I would say is the best book to give to a man to read! It is graphic, & descriptive of the evil of the time so be warned! That is why I think it is a good outreach tool for any man.
Just as it gets too descriptive she expertly then focuses on God or anything positive to turn your mind back to God realising God does shine through anything however bad, Which I think is very appropriatein this day & age. It helps my reading now of the new testament knowing the background these disciples had to face daily. It so aidsin many different levels your walk with God.
