what happened next - By: A. lawrence, 07 Jun 2008
I have just read books 1 & 2in this series. I preferred this novel to the first one which I found too violent for my tastein places. The plot is well paced & the characters are strong which makes you want to know what happens to them. An enjoyable read.
DISAPPOINTED - By: Nomsa, 10 Dec 2007
I read "A Voicein the Wind" which so moved me that I wanted to read An Echoin the Darkness. I wanted to find out what happened to Hadassah, Marcus & Julia. Francine Rivers is excellent at describing the scene as it might have been during that era & there was a lot of history. But I found the story a little cornyin places & somewhat predictable. I didn't like this book very much.
A truly amazing story - By: Rebecca Betts, 28 Sep 2007
I could not put this book down, as the sequel to the first book A Voicein the Wind. After reading these books, I still think about the characters- mostly the main one Hadassah, & how she is an example to mirror. It wasn't just an incredible stroy, it had so many powerful messages that I feel changed from reading it.

Powerful Story of God's Love and Forgiveness - By: Mark Baker, 29 Jan 2003
It's been a year since the end of A VOICE IN THE WIND. Marcus is feeling restless. His life of pleasure no longer holds any happiness for him. Julia is finding that her friends really don't care for her, & she is fighting an illness that no one seems to be able to cure. Their mother, Phoebe, prays constantly for their salvation. Fortunately, God has not given up on them. And the answer might come from the strange woman hiddenin veils who assists the young doctor Alexander at his shopin the poor part of town.
Francine Rivers has once again captured the Roman empire of the 1st century AD. Rome, Ephesus, & Israel come alive with compelling people & small historic details. The theme of God's love & the power of forgiveness are beautifully shown through the lives of these characters. The ending was so powerful, I'm sure it will stay with me for quite some time.
This novel is definitely a sequel to the first bookin the series, A VOICE IN THE WIND. Enough of the first book is explained so you won't be lost if you choose to read this one first. However, since you'll ultimately want to read the first one, I recommend starting with it so none of the surprises will be spoiled.
These novels are some of the best Christian fiction I've ever read. If you enjoy a good story with strong characters, you'll want to pick these up & read them today.
