CD-ROM has limited functionality in Windows XP - By: J. P. Attard, 05 Oct 2008
I could not get this to runin XP at all until I found this helpful review on Amazon.com. I copy it here for .co.uk customers:

"It is not possible to install the cd-rom programin Windows XP. All the features can be accessed, however, directly from the CD-Rom. Place the cd-romin your drive & open the folder named "DA". Right click on the DA.exe icon & select "Properties". From the properties menu you can select Windows 95 compatibility. Then double-click on DA.exe & you will get the opening screen. From there all menu items are fully functionalin XP. "

However, only limited functionality is possible - you can read the strips, but most of the search functions don't work.
incredibly great value - By: , 07 Jan 2004
I'm a bit new to doonesbury. Basically, I always dippedin & out of the stripsin the Guardian, but although I realised that they were quite extra-ordinary, I hardly understood who the characters were & why they did what they did. I was anxious to find out to say the least. That's why the decision to get Bundles Doonesbury was quite easy; the CD was the main selling point to me. And once I got it (for Christmas), I was hooked. Not only the CD is incredible, the book too was a good read. Really marvellous book, get it if youre new to trudeau!
the dark and evil empire has entered the guarded realm - By: , 04 Aug 1999
As has been said previously, the new strips were great but the rehash of strips from the previous two books was very disapointing. next time i ill review more carefully before buying.

Now the bad part, what the F*** is going on when You can't read doonesbury on a mca but you can on a Wintel machine. Read my heading & you will understand. I was very disappointed as were a number of other friends of mine.

Not just a book-based update - a packed CD-ROM as well! - By: , 05 Jul 1999
Trudeau's wit & wisdom has diminished not one whitin thirty years of cartooning, but his worldview has become both more pessimistic & a tad more sentimental as American society loses more & more grip on reality. High point since 1995 for me has been the re-emergence of Vietnamese orphan Kim, learning to talk English but only able to recite slogans & straplinesin the 70s - & now an entrancing, razor-sharp geekette. What can she seein Mike? And it's great to see the increasingly appalling J.J.'s comeuppance. You don't just get the book, though; you get a truly wonderful CD too, full of Doonesbury history & skilfully designed to enable the Doonesbury aficionado to research the past by characters & by politics. Great comic animations & an easy-to-use format make this a must for fans.
Mixed Opinions, but the CD is MUST HAVE! - By: , 30 Jan 1999
Let's start with the good. The CD is an absolute must have! I might have paid $100 for the CD alone, (depending on my propensity to spend when I thought about it). Getting all the comics from 1970 up to sometimein 1995 plus more is just incredible.

Having said that, the book is a disappointment, it has a lot of comics that were previously publishedin the past few large format books. I thought that large format books didn't repeat each other (with the exception of Flashbacks), but this book rehashes Virtual Doonesbury & Planet Doonesbury, plus some newer stuff after Planet Doonesbury. Hey G.B., don't do that again, I'll let it pass this time 'cause of the CD, but now I'm going to be hesitant to buyin the future without reviewing your books for old comics. Finally, although I have Windows (it works on NT 4.0), I agree with the complaint that it doesn't run on Mac. It does seem quite out of character for G.B.'s anti-Microsoft (and somewhat pro-Mac) writings.
