fine for xtras but not as a base program - By: B. hawksby, 24 Mar 2008
this book was written 20 years ago, & as such is out of date. contains most of the exercises that you will come acrossin other training books, but also contains moves that make you cringe- stiff leg deadlift & the photos show people arching their lower back & showing bad form- asking for trouble, last but not least this dosen't include any ref to diet, stretching or risks involvedin any of the lifts. The new rules of lifting by lou schuler or the mens health gym bible by michael mejia are more up to the minute, but as we all know no book holds all the answers...
What I had been looking for! - By: Craig Harris, 10 Feb 2005
As someone who has always played sports & liked to weight train for enjoyment, I found this book to be very helpfull. For anyone like me, who has been around gyms for years, knows the basic techniques but has got a bit bored of the same old excercises - THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU! It breaks down the body parts & has multiple excerises with descriptions & start & finish photos. It then has exercise variations & informative training routines of past body builders, giving a good guide to what you need to train & how often. If like me you only have time to train 3 times a week, it will give good routine variations so you don't get bored. An excellent buy!
Superb ! - By: , 02 Jan 2004
Although this book has a few years under it's weight belt now, this is still loads of great techniques & a mass of different variations for each muscle group that I hadn't seen before. Each exercise is well explained & the routines laid out at the end of each chapter were interesting & gave you some idea of how to start putting your own together. Definitely buy if you have started a routine & are now getting a little bit bored of it & want to start something new.
