I purchased this & several other introductory stained glass guides. This is by far the best of all of them that I purchased. It is very simple to follow, details common pitfalls & mistakes (for the most part though there are still many tricks of the trade that could've been highlighted better -- black backings for foil, how to hang & install completed panels, etc.) & includes a broad variety of up-to-date project styles. The picturesin the book are great & include projects that are intended to help the beginner build his/her skills -- & NOT as a vanity display of the authors' works (like I have seenin other texts). For me, the book tells probably 90% of what I needed to know to do stained glass-- the rest, as I've discovered, you simply have to figure out by talking with others or trial & error. One major plus for me -- this is an inexpensive book that is well worth its cost.
Terrific! Full of great hints and tips. Just what I wanted. - By: , 10 Mar 1998 It was just exactly what I wanted as a beginner. One question though, the kaleidoscope project on page 116 says mirrors are 1 & a sixth wide - should it read 1 & a sixteenth wide?
