book for beginners - By: D. Tay, 10 Dec 2008
Hi Readers,
I bought this book last week. I'm a sales manager & have read a lot of sales, marketing & personal improvement books, & listened to many CD's on the subject. I follow the new model of selling.
This book starts with how to increase profits using telephone selling & give some practical advice on how to setup a sales operation on the phone, basics scripts, closes, handling gatekeepers & some extra tips.
Beingin telephone sales for a few years now i found that this book was more aimed at business that have not done telephone selling before. It covers the basics but i don't think the 'sales skills' would cutin my office. Very basic. One good section was handling gatekeepers, but the rest was fairly obvious.
some of the advice was; Use a phone that is clear & good quality, & if you call & the line is busy, call the next person.
Its not all bad, as i say its ok for setups, but wouldn't recommend for sales people or managers looking for new ideas & skills.
I'd stick with Brian Tracy Advanced Selling Strategies.
An excellent quick fix for telesales - By: Adam, 20 Feb 2003
I read this bookin 2 days & it had an immediate impact on my attitude & determination.
This book is great if you are stuckin a rut & are struggling to find a way to motivate yourself. There are several hints & tips on technique that are all worth a try, & more than anything reading this book makes you want to pick up the phone & get cold calling straight away.
Although this book doesnt go into any depth about the art of selling, it is a great pick-me-up for anyonein the sales profession who is looking for a gentle push back into the fray.
An excellent quick fix - By: Adam, 19 Feb 2003
This book gives excellent up-front tips & strategies ideal for anybody who is stuckin a rut & needs a few ideas. I read this bookin 2 days & it had an immediate impact on my attitude & determination. It provides some good hints & tips, all of which are worth a try, & although the book is American, all the advice is fairly generic so it still made sensein the UK market.
This book doesn't explore the sales process or customer transitionin any detail, but if you are looking for that little push to get you back on track, then it is definately worth a read.
Great, simple to follow and easy to apply in your life! - By: Marina Fagerberg (marinafagerberg@hotmail.com), 21 Nov 2001
This book became my next best friend! I am just starting work with sales & learning how to be the best sales person I can be. It is not easy task but it may be much easier that I thought having this incredible book as my coach.
I am working with people around the globe, & it is very important to have clear goals, & a working system that you can rely on. Robert Bly remember us to use common sense, & teach us the sales process step-by-stepin a way that doesn't matter if you arein America, Europe or Asia, you learn what you need to learn & how to be a better professional, at the same time I am having much more funin doing my job right, & helping my customers to get a better deal for themselves.
A Must-Read for All Sales Professionals - By: , 21 Sep 2000
I got so much more out of this book than the title suggests! Mr. Robert W. Bly takes the time to help you go over what you really want out of your prospecting & presenting efforts. He points out the flawsin the cold-hearted, selfish motives for sales, & shows how putting the customer's goals first, always helps you achieve your goals later. Then, he gives you step-by-step points for writing your own script & presentation plan. Beyond just cold-calling, this book can help you with every new prospect you meet & that, oh so vital, first few minutes of interaction.
This book is a treasure. Want to make more money? Want to learn how to really sell on the phone? This is the book! I have purchased & read some books on teleselling but this one is the best. Specific strategies that work! This book is absolutely loaded with insights & practical ideas you can use to increase your effectivenessin dealing with anyonein business on the telephone. These ideas should be read, taught, digested, & practiced every single day. Highly recommended.
