If you liked Bourne don't bother with this - By: R. E. Quinn, 19 Jun 2008
unfortunately I will never be able to get back the 20 minutes of my life I wasted reading the first 50 or so pages of this book.
If like me you were a fan of Robert Ludlum's three Bourne novels this will be a great disapointment. Mr Ludlum when constructing his three novels built a central core of four characters who were all essential to the story, David Webb/Jason Bourne, Marie, Conklin & Mo Panov. The last three were the way that David Webb was able to fight his way back from Jason Bourne.
Mr Van Lustbader however managed to kill off two of the threein the first 50 pages!! Then the premise that he used for his story made a total mockery of the original reason that David Webb became Jason Bournein the first place!!
So I would advise don't bother unless you have never read the original Bourne books or like me you will be left wondering if time travel is possible to reclaim those lost moments of your life you wasted reading this.
Exciting... - By: Sarah Gooding, 14 Mar 2008
I've now read many of Robert Ludlum's novel's, & the Jason Bourne story's alway's hit the spot. This world class writer understands his genre so well that the pace, suspense, & throughly believable charators make the read most enjoyable. Most unusual, is the fact that the films are equally brilliant. While writing this review, I would also like to recommend 'The Constantine Legacy' by, up & coming author Andrew Towning.
A new Angle - By: B. R. Drew, 15 Jun 2007
Although many people have slated this books as awful & one should not bother with it i found it to be intresting & exciting. first of all mr Ludlums previous booksin the series are great & although a bit dated the book can be enjoyed as a new angle I mean come on if you are going to slate this book of you might as well slate the films as they have nothing to do with the books apart from certian characters & plot lines. I found this book to be exciting & action packed & enough twists to keep you reading. If you are new to the books I would recomend reading the previous three but overall a good read
Simply awful. - By: S. Laxman, 07 Apr 2006
This really is awful. I just can't understand how Eric Van Lustbader could've done this so badly, surely he must've read the other Bourne books before he wrote this...
In this book, Bourne (who should be about 60) is able to pull off amazing feats, such as jumping from a motorcycle to a truck goingin opposite directions. The entire character of Bourne is different to the characterin the original trilogy.
Read the others (which really are all fantastic books), & just forget this.
This isn't a continuation of the Bourne series, it's just tripe.
Simplistic, dull, predictable. - By: , 09 Mar 2006
I bought this book having hugely enjoyed the earlier Bourne novels. Whilst I finished this book I was several times tempted to bin it & give up. The plot was pathetic, unrealistic & predictable. Bourne has turned into an emotionally incontinent wimp & the story had none of the depth & imagination of the Ludlum books.
Avoid it like the plague if you are a fan of the original books.
