I read all of the reviews before purchasing this diary & I am glad I went with the majority! So far I have only completed two tasks "Make a new years resolution that no one has ever made" & "Turn your home into a restaurant" but I am really enjoying it!
I think there are multiple versions of this diary (An European version & an American version), but from what I can tell so far with the European version there are not tasks such as "Hire a prostitute for something other than sex".
I do think that this diary involves a sense of humour & should be taken for what it is. A diary which suggests you do things, which you would never think of doing, then record what happens by writingin the diary or the blog which you can create on their site.

Trying reading some of the blogs which people have posted & decide for yourself whether you like it, rather than reading a review by somebody who either exaggerates greatly or has absolutely no sense of humour.
think before you buy - By: allthatiswrong, 25 Nov 2008 If you read something about the item you are buying, it makes it slightly easier to decide whether or not something is appropriate.
Given the authors other work is entitled "Lose Weight! Get Laid! Find God!" it's probably a fair bet that his book has some risky sexual humour, & that if finding god is actually important to you it might not be to your taste.
If you like Mock the week, I'd wager you'll like this. If you prefer the Today show & find Have I Got News for You a bit risky sometimes, I'd leave it alone.
In the interests of clarity I should point out that I don't own this title, but given the insanity of one of the other reviewers it is now on my wishlist. I'll be happy to post a further review after christmas once I've actually read it.
In the meantime be careful out there - I've just heard a disturbing rumour that bears do indeed relieve themselvesin woods. Although apparently the Urbanbear prefers to do it outside Wetherspoons at 3amin the morning.
Edgy but funny - By: crazyhorse, 17 Nov 2008 Just got my diary for 2009 & as always it was very funny & has some great tasks. I'm actually going to try & make a proper effort to do more of them next year... Cant wait to turn up at hospital with a mystery illness & I might even give Communism a go. But even you if you never get round to doing the tasks (I haven't always been that diligent) I would recommend this diary - looks great & its loads of fun.
If you need a laugh in 2009... - By: Sarah, 10 Nov 2008 Very funny diary/book that gives you instructions on how to lead your life. Instructions include "subvert consumer society from within" (you're meant to leave anti-capitalist messagesin luxury goods), call up your school teachers to fillin gapsin your education, & loads of others. Some are feasible, some aren't, but its generally hilarious, & really well-designed.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my brother as it sounded fun but I have returned it because it isn't appropriate. If you have a slightly sick, anarchic sense of humour you will enjoy this diary. But the suggestions to, "dig your own grave", "hire a prostitute for something other than sex" & "post a libelous photograph of your friend on the internet" appeal to a certain sense of humour & are suggestions I could happily live without!
