A good basic guide - By: J. Shep, 28 Dec 2007
This is a good basic guide for anyone who is new to veterinary nursing or & wants to be a bit more informed during operations. It covers the basic instruments that you would probably seein a smaller veterinary practice but may not cover all the specialist ones that bigger hospitals may use. I found it a valuable bookin my collection without it I would still be clueless, & probably still looking for those forceps!!
Not the best reference guide for serious students - By: , 17 Aug 2003
This book is ok for general practice use, not for serious students. It would have been better if there were pictures instead of drawings of the instuments detailed. This book only scratches the surface of the surgical instuments usedin Veterinary Practice.
A bit pricy for the basic content of the book. - By: , 13 Aug 2003
Although this book is helpful, it's a bit limited. There are hundreds of different instruments usedin Veterinary Practice & i've found that this book only scratches the surface. This book would probably benefit pre-VN students or assistants new to the Veterinary Practice the most.
It would of been more helpful if there were pictures of the instruments instead of drawings.
A useful addition to the veterinary practice library - By: , 14 Oct 2001
This book is useful for pre-veterinary nurses, trainee nurses & for new members of staff at a practice. Veterinary instruments have complicated names because they are often named after the people who "invented" them. If only all these people had had easy names then the instruments would be easier to spell & remember! This book logically groups the instruments together & illustrates the main differences between them. I would have liked to have seen photographs as well as the diagrams, because this would make the instruments easier to recognisein the flesh. But this is a minor point, & I would recommend the book even if it is just used to check the spellings of the strange names.
