Wow! Amazing! - By: A. McGonigle, 27 Dec 2008
I have read several of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter novels & since the first I read I have been desperately waiting for the story on Ash & it has been so worth the wait.
I can honestly say this has been the best novel I have ever read & it brought me to tears.
This book has been written so well & I was struggling between continually reading & trying to pace my reading as I knew I would get to the end soon & didn't want to!

Thank you so much Sherri for a truly amazing & masterpeice of a book, you never let your fans down :-)
Amazing!! - By: Lovin romance and chick lit!, 24 Dec 2008
There are two parts to this book & the first part is heartbreaking. I found myself wanting to cry at the pain that Acheron had to endure. I couldn't believe the sheer horror he had to put up with & how evil people were to him. I kept thinking 'What has he ever done to you?' The fact that Styxx, who was horrible & selfish & didn't care about anyone but himself, was the one who was treated like a king really annoyed me. It should have been Acheron. Yet, I would probably have said the same thing if it was the opposite way round.
The only person who really loved Acheronin the first part was his sister Ryssa, whos diaries entries we read at the beginning. Even Artemis treats him like he is nothing.
The second part is the present dayin which we are introduced to Tory. The chemistry between Acheron (Ash) & Tory is amazing which makes it an incredible love story. Acheron learns to trust someone & he finally gets the life he deserves.
I loved this book so much & it really does release all your emotions. You feel sad, upset, happy & you even laugh out loud. With all the old characters like Simi, Artemis & most of the darkhunters, it leaves you totally fulfilled when you finish reading it. It also tells you that Artemis really is a b!tch. So overall, this is a must read.
waited and waited and worth it. - By: Alex, 12 Dec 2008
This was The book we were all waiting for....Oh it was really good. Now we all know who Ash is & why.. Buy it & love it.
Very VERY disappointing - By: sucker for a great hero, 20 Nov 2008
Finally, the story of Acheron. After the long wait, I am left feeling cheated & very disappointed.
The first section of the which details how Acheron came to be is raw & gritty, heart rendingin places, & quite contrivedin others.
Despite the never ending chain of horrific & brutal events of his early life, I read on, hoping that the second section would see the emergence of the Ash I'd glimpsed & become fascinated byin the earlier novels.
Was I ever wrong!
Instead, he seems more like an ill developed character than true hero. The fact that he has endured so much is testimony to his strength & power - a fact that is rarely reflectedin the last chapters. This I feel is as a result of Kenyon concentrating more on section one & just tossing words togetherin section two.
This was the story I was waiting for, & I feel cheated that it did not deliver.
Acheron's relationship with Soteria lacked substance & believability, which is quite sad considering they are critical characters. This is Acheron, for crying out loud, the most powerful of them all! Where is the intricacy & substance of his story?
loved it!! - By: Penny Harvey, 26 Oct 2008
Can't really add anything to the other reviews - if you have read the othersin the dark hunter series - then you have already read this one!

If not - why on earth not?

Downside - it ended!

Can't wait for the next one & please, please please - when do we get Nick's story???
