For under £10 you get a thorough, precise, well written step by step guide to the whole process of the 11+. I found answers to all of the questions I had & more besides. For less cost than half an hour with a tutor I was able to assess my daughter & to feel reassured that she was grammar school potential. The pull out test section really is fantastic & the clear answer sectionin the back is user friendly. In fact the overall feel of the book is quality, reliable information that is easy for a parent to use & understand. It is positive & chatty without that condescending or patronising attitude that many teachers have. I also liked the fact that there is no judgement made on whether your child is grammar potential or not & whether you choose a selective school or comprehensive. It's difficult to find information out when you are a parent & this book did it all & was useful for any grammar or private school that uses an assessment. The book is easy to read with clear diagrams & although it doesn't seem that thick, it really is packed full of information, ideas & resources. If your child isn't grammar school potential, you can find out for minimal cost and, more importantly, saves all of that build up, tension & ongoing cost of having tutoring. If you have children just starting juniors, it has loads of pre-11+ advice & for anyone looking for a quick fix with little time to spare, this is also perfect for you. I've wasted so much money on every 11+ workbook going & I only wish I had bought this first. This book is sure to be useful not only to assess my daughter, but as an ongoing reference book as it clearly explains all elements of the English, Maths, Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning papers. If you have any questions on the 11+ system, don't hesitatein getting it & I hope it is as useful to you as it has been for us.
