Excellent Comprehensive Resource - By: Robert Childs, 14 Oct 2008
The book, all 800+ pages of it, is written with the objective of getting you through the 70-620 exam, & should therefore not be confused with the Vista Resource Kit.
Whilst covering virtually the same material, this is not a reference book. It does however have very good labs & recommended best practises that will be useful long after the exam cramming begins to fade.
Whilst many taking this exam will have done the Windows XP equivalent, Vista is a huge step forward from Windows XP & there is a lot of new good content to be taken in.
Vista is really all about security, &in setting out the exam Configuring Windows Vista Client takes you through the whole desktop security model from browser security zones to locking down your wireless connections. Microsoft has now put securityin by design, & it permeates throughout Vista, & the exam, as a result.
If you are an IT professional with an interestin security the chapter on locking down Internet Explorer & Windows Defender is worth the price of the book alone.
The advanced security firewall features, with the ability to configurein & outbound rules are well explained, & the reader is taken through a series of scenarios & best practises. For manyin the desktop environment workspace this may be the first time they have configured a firewall, & this area is well explained for the novice.
This is obviously a book to take you through the 70-620 desktop exam: Using Vista clientsin Active Directory Environments is coveredin the 70-622 & -70-623 exams, & hence left out here.
good enough for 70-620 exam - By: J. dean, 29 Jan 2008
The book covers enough detail for this exam (its main purpose). I found the book concise & to the point. I was able to pass using this as my main study tool. If you have passed the 70-270 exam you find this easy reading, as this exam is closer to the MCDST 70-271. i.e.
+ no requiremnts for automated installs
+ AD or group policy etc
Basically it is an easy read if your familiar with the previous XP exams.

It helped me pass 70-620, nuff said! - By: L. J. Davis, 10 Sep 2007
I have read a lot of study guides over the years & despite the size of this book it was amazingly easy to read & digest.
The content weas laid out logically & flowed with ease.
I know a lot of people are upset that there is not evaluation included but if you workin IT you should be able to lay your hands on a copy. Also I strongly recommend actually using Vista before taking the 70-620!
