This is a set book for the Open University course A200 (1400 to 1900 - From Medieval to Modern), so if you're signed up for the course, then you need it. If you're not signed up for the course, then it's difficult to assess whether it will deliver what you need, as the examples presented are chosen to complement the course itself. There is a wide range of primary source material here from a very wide date range, & while some articles are very dry, some are able to really bring the events they're describing to life. Personally, the sections detailing the trial of Charles I will live with me for many years, & were some of the most moving & inspiring pieces I have read, although I should state that I was reading the book as part of the OU course mentioned above.
