Deeply distressing - By: V. Watts, 07 Jan 2009
I love Marian Keyes booksin general so when looking for a holiday read this one popped out of the shelf at me. I've never been more depressed on holiday! I cried from beginning to end when reading this & would like to just warn others against reading it if they are after a good jolly holiday book.
Enjoyable Read. - By: Jennifer Kate, 27 Dec 2008
When reading reviews about this novel, I was shocked to see the number of people who have given it 1 lousy star & labeled it "depressing". It is true that this novel does have a depressing theme to it, however this is just one theme within a whole list of others. Now I read this book a while ago, so I'll find it hard to pick out certain points, but I remember the ending making me HAPPY. It made me smile (and also cry) at how she gets her life on track after coping with the loss of her husband.
So to all those out there considering reading this book, ignore those who call it depressing, as they obviously haven't realised that novels are usually about growth of character & a changein story line.
Anybody Out There is a lovely story which deals with a taboo subjectin an interesting & imaginative way. Have a nice read :]
Fantastic - By: Lovin romance and chick lit!, 24 Nov 2008
This is such an emotional read. It really touched my heart & I found myself cryingin some parts of the book. When I recieved this book, I didn't really think it would be that good so I left it it for a bit & boy was I surprised at how good it was when I finally did read it. The twists are great, the characters are perfect & I can't think of anything bad to say about it!
I wish there had been a disclaimer. - By: Katherine Hansen, 23 Nov 2008
Believe it or not, I bought this book to cheer me upin dealing with the anniversary of the tragic sudden death of the most important personin my life. Marian Keyes' books have always been a treat to myself & I was specifically looking for some escapism. Little did I know . . . I'd like to warn anyone who has experienced a tragic death to prepare yourself. This book re-opened a lot of deep wounds that took me years to work through & I have to say I was angry at being caught off guard. I finally persevered & finished the book but it was painful.
Horrid book - By: Claire Smith, 25 Sep 2008
Deeply upsetting, deeply depressing. Absolutely hateful book. I too have only been married to my dream man for a short amount of time, & this book will give me nightmares for a time to come. It's one of the worst things I can think of come true & describedin detail for hundreds of pages. Burning is too good for this - this horror.
