A guide for modern architects, an eye-opener for anyone - By: , 19 Oct 2003
A great book detailing traditional building styles through history & accross the world. From the yurt to the stone shepherds' cottage, vernacular building shows that high-tech is not always the best solution, & that the construction methods that people have been evolving over thousands of years to suit their climate & local materials are actually very sophisticated. An insight into different methods of livingin very different cultures. A very well written guide, easy to understand even if you have no previous knowledge, yet in-depth enough to interest at any level. With the beautiful photographs & very high standard of presentation that you would expect from Philadon. This is a lovely, fantastic quality book. Buy it!
