A great insight to a dancer - By: watever, 30 Jun 2003
I LOVE this book & have read it cover to cover so many times. I love dance but I feel that this is an interesting book for all & not just dancers.
It gives a great insight into the life & dancing career of one of the U.K's favourite dancers.
Darcy Bussel, writes realisticly about her past, present & future & it is hard to put down & you feel like Darcy is talking to you the way she is so open & fun!
This is a great read for all ( & has interesting pictures of the dancer as well!)
Excelent, a very good read especialy if you are a ballet fan - By: , 29 May 2001
A very good book, I couldn't put it down. It tells you everything about her life, from being a cheeky child to one of the most famous dancersin the world. You learn about her achievments & the hard times, like when she was bullied at White Lodge & when she was promoted to a Principal Dancer. Darey tells you about her favourite rolls & partners, about her injuries & her strops! I really liked this book & I recommened it to everyone especially Darcey or ballet fans.
Excellent - not to be missed by any Bussel fans! - By: , 25 May 2001
Combining a collection of classic pictures of this increadible dancer, with excellent descriptions of her dancing career that would be a credit to even the most accomplished writer! The amusing heading to the first chapter "From Baby to Bunhead:How I came to be a ballerina" is an innovative idea, making an excellent beginning to a very enjoyable book. Darcey includes a glossary & a chronology of her debuts, & describes her feelings about the views of critics & paparazzi. Her book is suitable for a wide age range & is an inspirational approach to the world of dance. As you read this book, you come to have a broader knowledge of Darceys dancing life, of her rival Sylvie Guillem & the silent arguement they have as to who will dance with Johnathon Cope, their best matched partner, & her most pleasing & successful roles. I hope this review will inspire other Darcey Bussel fans to buy such an indepth & enjoyable book on this talented star who is such a treasure to the Royal Ballet.

Lifein Dance describes Ms. Bussell's rise to famein a friendly, easy to read style. All dance terminology is explained so that both dancers & non-dancers can enjoy this tale of hard work & sometimes disappointment in what is a glittering career. With backstage tales from Covent Garden, to tips from Ms. Bussell herself this book is a good read for any aspiring ballerinas as it is truthful about the highs & lows of this career from early days at the Royal Ballet School to the pinnacle of this profession. For non-dancers it provides an interesting insight into the world of ballet & the hard work behind it.
