A mine of historical information - By: , 18 May 2003
If you like books which prompt you to further research, then Out of the Flames is for you. The story of Michael Servetus is gripping all the way through, & the regular inclusion of related topics also titillates you to get an encyclopedia etc. & look things up,in order to increase your knowledge of the subject area. Now that, to me, is the sign of a very good book indeed. This one fits the bill. It is excellent. I am very glad I bought it. Howell Thomas.
A very valuable addition to your library - By: , 01 May 2003
I warmly recommend this book for your private library. Besides telling the story of the clash between Calvin & Servetus, it is a positive mine of information about the general religious, political & social aspects of those times. I found tantalising details springing regularly out of the text which prompted me to immediately look things upin encyclopedias & other books etc. It inspired me to want to do further researchin associated subjects. That, to me, is the hallmark of a very good book indeed, & I am very glad I bought it. Howell Thomas.
