This is an excellent read, the book is simple to follow & gives good techniques, which can be applied on a daily basis. While reading this book I felt connected page after page, as it envelops the reader of mindful thoughts & as we recognise each aspects of our thoughts. We will be able to overcome the negative perspectives, apply the positive thoughts resultingin overall empowerment, peaceful & blissful life.
simple and practical guide to increasing awareness - By: Cyber Vigilantes, 03 Jan 2008
This is a lovely book with many practical tips on meditating.
My particular favourite is the reference to 'washing the dishes to wash the dishes' - the idea of livingin the present & enjoying tasks that we all want to put off. By focusing on the jobin hand & not ruminating or thinking about what we are going to do next, Hanh rewards the reader with very simple but profound advice. - my dishes have never been cleaner & my mind is certainly less cluttered as a result!
Best book on meditation I've seen - By: , 22 Dec 2003
This is a fantastic introduction to meditation. It is not writtenin a dry, technical way, but rather with gentle anecdotes & suggestions that are easy to read, understand & enjoy. The small size of the book perhaps reflects the reality of simplicity being a component of the peace the book discusses & isin itself encouraging!! If you've ever wanted to know what meditation is, or how to get started, this must be one of the best places.
A True Buddhist Monk - By: Ruth Barringham, 09 Dec 2003
Thich Nhat Hanh has to be one of the best authors on Buddhism I have ever read. His style of writing flows so well that his books are easy to read & it's clear to see thatin this book he was really writing from the heart. After reading The Miracle of Mindfulness it leaves me with such a good understanding of the mind of such a great monk & a feeling of peace. I would recommend this book to anyone whether they have read other books on Buddhism or are just curious to know the basics of Buddhist thought & teachings. Thich Nhat Hanh shows us throughout his book how we spend too much time worrying about the past & the future without ever stopping to consider the present & how we fail to see the wider picture of our existence within the rest of the world. This is a refreshing & calming readin what is usually a busy & fast-paced existence. This is a book that can make you slow down & re-prioritise what is truly importantin life making your life less stressful & selfish. A truly inspiring read.

Nhat Hanh gives generously &in this beautiful book attempts to illustrate a better way to be. the message is simple, easy to understand & without doubt incredibly useful. Buddhism has been the bedrock of the author’s life but any reader can enrich his life by learning to breath & with a smile be there now.
