Nigellas book for me are like having a big sisterin the kitchen with you talking you through somethingin a friendly, none threatening way.
I must say when I read a few reviews that gave one star I began to wonder if I was reading my book right. But I figured that Nigellas way of cooking, presenting her food & the recipes themselves are never going to be everyones cup of tea. I find Nigellas recipes quite retro with the right about of modern added to them to balance them.
If you have yet to purchase this book I can recommend all the recipes but give a particular thumbs up to:
The Kerela style omelette with green chutney. I have no ties to Kerela but can safely say omelettes are made the same way across the pondin Karachi. This dish makes a lovely brunch or light lunch dish too.
Chocolate fudge cake-my far the best recipein the world for fudge cake. I have made it so many times I've lost count. I often substitute the sour cream for a low fat greek yogurt & have has success everytime. The cake is so good you won't want to share it.
The squid recipe (TV dinners) is amazing. Something so simple is so tasty.
Bitter orange ice cream is so quick & easy to make you'll make it again & again.
There are so many recipes you'll find something for any occasion.
I would recommend this book along with Nigella Express if you are looking for books that not only inspire you to cook but also look nice on your coffee table.
my best ever cookbook - By: Eliza Ecclestone, 04 Sep 2007 time & time again i end up making recipes from this book after spending hours scanning all my other cookery books. lamb shanks, egyptian tomato salad, hamin coca cola & sweetcorn eggy bake thing are particular favourites.

theres little wrong with this bookin fact i love glancing through it even though im notin the kitchen or even planning to enterin the very near future. however, i cant ingnore this, but there is one small problem.
they content, though very good & well thought of, is lacking more recipies. i mean yes they all are very intresting & good to eat but unfortunately it is a tad bit on the dull side if all u can do is just tweak & tweak again, i know this book is for following a series but i still think that nigella shoud of added a few more extra
other than that its a perfect book , large text ( unlike so many other booksin which i sometimes have to squint to read) & throughly enjoyable recipies such as that ever luring chocolate fudge cake
Great Food, Great Fun - By: L. Hogan, 28 Aug 2006 This is the first of Ms Lawson's books that I encountered & I absolutely loved her style of writing. Its all so realistic..."you can make this dish by doing this, this & this but if its all too much trouble just pop the lotin a blender & blitz." Her pancakes are a regular feature at breakfastin our house as are most of the cakes & biscuits. I think one of the most enjoyable aspects of this book is that you can sit down & read it at any time, not just when you are looking for inspiration!
Another excellent offering from Nigella - By: Ms. D. Hutchison, 27 Feb 2006 This is an easy to follow, fun book for both beginners & more experienced cooks alike.
Nigella Bites is simply a wonderful addition to any cookbook collection & great if you fancy trying something a little different. The section on Tacky food is particularly entertaining. Clearly laid out & with excellent pictures. You won't be dissapointed.
