A Good Book But Not On A Par With This Author's Other Books! - By: bobbewig, 05 Jun 2008
Having read all six of Richard Montanari's books I am convinced that he is incapable of writing a bad book. That being said, however, Merciless does not measure up to the other two booksin the series featuring Homicide Detectives Byrne & Balzano. While Montanari's writing style & characters will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next, I found that the plot wasn't as engrossing, & the twists & turns weren't as surprising, as I've come to expect from a Montanari thriller -- & particularly from The Rosary Girls & The Skin Gods. You will not be sorry if you read Merciless -- it is a good book. As a matter of fact, you'll probably consider it to be a very good book if it is the first book by Montanari that you've read. My slight disappoint with Merciless is based primarily on the basis of comparison & that I've come to expect more from this very talented author.
Merciless - Outrageous - By: good books, 15 Feb 2008
I have to agree that I also feel deceived. My sister gave me this book as a Christmas present after checking with me first to see if I'd read it.
What a complete waste of money for her & a disappointment for me when I opened it to start reading & found I'd read it before & it was called Broken Angels - how can the author get away with this? He must be laughing all the way to the bank!!
Shame on Amazon to advertise without mentioning it's the same book as Broken Angels! - By: Andie Cayne, 22 Aug 2007
For all prospective buyers who haven't read Broken Angels - get this now as it's an excellent read from start to finish, Montanari is a brilliant writer.
Don't fall for the 'buy both' thing, Merciless is the same book as Broken Angels. How can they advertise to buy both???
Excellent but same book as Broken Angels retitled for American market so don't buy if you already read that! - By: Julie Holt, 21 Aug 2007
Excellent, fast paced thriller. I have read all of Richard Montanari's last three novels & this one does not disappoint. Had to write this quick review to redress the balance because the last reviewer put only 1 star but he meant he was disappointed that Amazon didn't make it clear this is the American version of Broken Angels & his gripe was with them rather than Richard Montanari. Whichever one you read you'll be eager to devour the next Richard Montanari book-couldn't put it down.
Decived!! - By: Terence Oneill, 20 Aug 2007
This book is the same as Broken Angels so to anyone who has already read Broken Angels then this book is a wast of money...
