Way of the Turtle - - By: T. McGuire, 14 Jun 2010
Read the bookin a couple of days. Well written. It won't make you a millionaire but does help you understand the mindset required to be a successful trader.

The key point I took away from the book is you need a documented plan based on sound analysis, & stick to the plan even though you have to incur losses. Set stop lossesin such away you don't close out opportunities to profit too early.

Have I used any of the lessons learnedin the book no? However, for an active trader experiencing losses, who still want's to stayin the game, this book will be a useful addition to the bookshelf.

Brilliant writing, thoughtful - By: Literature Reviewer, 26 Sep 2009
I have just read Curtis Faith's Way of the Turtle. It took me about 1.5 days (I might be a slow reader) & I didn't put this book down until I finished the last chapter. This is clearly a most remarkable work.
The book is clearly structured, one chapter leading nicely to the next one. Concepts related to trading are made more understandable through good examples. Be aware that the book is largely free of formulas. Instead concepts are explainedin rather clear language, underpinned by meaningful charts & tables.
Who should read the book? Anybody who has a passion for markets, for investing & trading, who wants to refresh his understanding of behavioural finance aspects, will be well served with this reading. It is also a nice introduction to trading systems, backtesting & relevant performance measures.
Overall, the book is an exciting, easy reading. It's insightful & has been prepared with great care. It appears important to consider the title & subtitle separately: The latter suggests you may expect to learn about secret trading methods. The secret liesin the elegance & simplicity of the methods & how they were applied. The title itself, "Way of the turtle" holds another secret, which is only revealedin the epilogue. It's about the writer's own journey, the "Way" of the author, who says "It was this last chapter that I was most enthusiastic about completing". No wonder. It was the epilogue which I read with greatest excitement. That non-technical chapter crowns the whole effort & lifts the book above any other great treatise of trading & trading systems I have come across so far. 6 stars, if were available.

Ordinary method you can find on the net - Psychology good written - By: Brad Durden, 01 Aug 2009
The first part of the book where he explains the entire story how he gotin as a turtle & the different psychologies amongst the turtles is very interesting. If you are expecting to find a method you will definitely be disappointed just like me. I even skipped some pages towards the end where he compared different systems & their statistics. The methods are all well known & don't work as much as they did 20 years ago. The author also tells they don't work anymore that efficiently. That's why I believe this book is written now not 10-15 years ago.
Fascinating insights - By: M. Lee, 10 Jun 2009
Many parts of this book are a bit over my head, & I find myself going back to a previous chapter to review a definition or a key point. Nonetheless, Mr. Faith tells a fascinating story of life as a trader -- & all the more interesting because of the "I was there" factor. I'm still reading the book with great interest, & his insights make me feel he is looking over my shoulder & coaching me! The techniques the Turtles used may or may not be valid today, I don't know -- but his comments on human nature & psychological factors involved are right on the mark,in my opinion. A good investment!
Excellent book on trading - Definite buy! - By: Trader Bhoy, 30 Mar 2009
I've been an active trader for over 5 years & found this book immensely useful. Curtis Faith has an easy to read style & lays out his case for trading. When I read it the first time, I couldnt put the book down & raced through it, the Turtles are legendary & I just wanted to soak it up. When I got to the end I didnt quite realise what the book taught. So I re-read the book, this time studying it & really absorbing what he was telling the reader. The section on testing different trading systems like Dual MA's was magical! As was the fact that the turtles system itself was so 'simple'. Amazing book with great insights, can come over a bit too simplistic but that is the whole point!!! Definiltey get it & tailor your trading - I have & it works!
