Ok if you don't speak a word. - By: T. Woop, 25 Sep 2008
I'll start by saying I think I expected a bit too much of this product. I attempted to use itin France after using the Michel Thomas Foundation Course: French (Michel Thomas Series) (which incidentally is very good). But I found that because I knew a little French already, everything I needed to know was too advanced for this book. The dictionary was a lot more use.
On the other hand, if you don't speak even a word of French this might be useful to you. it has phonetic pronunciations of all the words & useful sections which might get you out of a scrape. But if you can afford it... forget this & go for the French course instead!
A great little product that's invaluable when travelling. - By: Betty Turoa, 15 Mar 2007
The Collins Phrase books (I have used several of the new editions including French, Spanish & Italian while travelling around Europe) are great. They are easily navigable with colour coding for different sections - all the essentials you need for getting by on holiday - shopping, using transport, accommodation, top tips - my favourite bit though, & that which I couldn't do with out, is the awesome menu reader! By far my favourite part of the any holiday is eating & the format is nice & compact so can fitin your handbag/purse easily. They're really discreet for bringing out at the dinner table, pretty much fittingin your hand, & avoiding the truly obvious tourist look! They're good & cheap too so I will be picking one up for any relevant country I visit.
