This is honestly the most wonderful book, but was unfortunately ruined for me by the awful film (in my opinion).
The book takes you through so many emotions, & even at 14 years old i felt myselfin Holly's shoes.
Should definately be read before you see the film.

This story goes on far too long, so expect plenty of padding; a trendin "chick lit" I've noticed.
The supporting characters aren't thoroughly developed so it's difficult to be emotionally investedin anyone but the main character. However, that's enough to help us get through the book.
It made me laugh out loud at some points which always deserves a gold star.
There was a tad too much unnecessary swearing at the beginning of the book, which luckily petered out.
A few wise words about grief do shine through, which takes this book from dull to OK.
A book to get lost in (Class project, part 1) - By: AMG English course year 11, 02 Dec 2008 After my first reading experience with a book of Cecelia Ahern, I was so enthusiastic about it that I instantly wanted to read another. I decided to read P.S. I love you. Cecelia Ahern wrote this bestseller when she was just 21 years old.
The book is about a 30-year-old woman, Holly, whose husband passed away because of a brain tumour. The novel accompanies Holly on her first year without Gerry.
It is written very emotionally. At some paarts I cried, & at some I laughed.
From the moment I opened the book I found it hard to put it aside. This novel is very heartfelt & touched me deeply while reading. I always wanted to know what will happenin the next chapter.
I looked forward to the film. Some of my friends who didn't read the book were enthusiastic & recommended it to me. But after seeing the film I was really disappointed. The director changed a lot of things. So, there is just a fundamental idea of the plot between the novel & the film. I thought the film was horriblein contrast to the novel. Therefore, I recommend you either to read the book or to watch the film, but not to do both.
The book,in my opinion, was amaziing, expecially considering that it is Cecelia Ahern's first novel that she wrote when she was so young.

I loved this book... (class project, part 2)
A young woman, Holly, lost her hsuband. Gerry died because of a brain tumour & left Holly broken. Now she has to live her life alone...
The novel "P.S. I Love You" is a very emotional book. It really touched my heart & while reading I had to fight back the tears.
Review "P.S. I Love You" (class project, part 3)
The novel "P.S. I Love You", by Cecilia Ahern, is about the 30-year-old Holly whose husband Gerry passed away. It describes the first year of her new life without him. The first month after his death, Holly isn't able to do anything.
When she receives an envelope from Gerry with little cardsin it, she couldn't imagine how he organised that. On these cards, one for each month of the following year, Gerry wrote down things Holly has to do. It's like a list.
Only with these cards & the help from her family & friends, the young woman learns to appreciate her life again.
This book is very emotionally written. Although it's sometimes humorous & funny, everything is written to touch your heart.
The language is lively but never boring. In my vew Cecilia Ahern did a great job describing the feelings of a young woman who has to let go & start a new life.
Sometimes it is a bit complicated to understand who is talking to whom, because there are a lot of characters which are important to the protagonist.
But the quantity of the characters underlines the feeling that the story reflects the reality without being cheesy.
I think the story could help people that mourn for somebody they loved.
In my opinion, this novel is highly recommendable & deserves four stars.
BIG FEELINGS (class project, part 4)
This fantastic romance novel was written by Cecelia Ahernin 2004. It is Cecelia Ahern's first novel & it was immediately a number one bestseller.
The novel is about a young woman, HOlly, who lost her beloved husband because of a cerebral tumour. The novel shows her way back to life & how she manages that with the help of her friends, her family, but above all with the help of Gerry, who has left her letters which should guide her into her new life without him.
The whole novel is written very emotionally.
Cecilia Ahern has the talent to combine different elements of feelings like grief & loneliness, but also a kind of humourin a perfect way.
Since I started reading the book, I couldn't stop. Normally I am not fond of reading, butin this case I acted like a real bookworm. This book evoked emotionsin me & I cried & laughed while reading it.
I recommend this novel to everyone who is interestedin romance, love, & big feelings. It is a book especially for the lonely hoursin life.

I bought this book one wet afternoon when i fancied a light, heart-warming read with a big piece of chocolate & a cup of tea. It wasn't even suitable for that.
The novel is very poorly written, it's as if a 12year old is writing, the characters,in particular Holly, the main character, are silly, weak & mainly 2 dimensional. The narrative flows badly, we are treated to immature lengthy descriptions of hairstyles & outfits (muchin the way a 12 year old girl might write) & character suffersin favour of cliche & awkward dialogue. A lot of 'he said' & 'she said' all over the place.
It's a shame, as the idea is a nice one, for chick lit, but the author fails to maximize the potential of her original idea, & the whole thing falls flat on it's face. It is never funny, but tries painfully hard to be,in vain effort to show a 'typical' girl, & her 'typical' friends & family overcoming life's traumas. It didn't touch me, I felt nothing for Holly & found her grief unbelievablein the way it panned out. The author obviously has a my-little-pony kind of mindset, as it seems all her novels are similarly immature & saccharine, without any truth. I wouldn't mind if they had something of the fairy tale & magic about them, but they don't.
Really, just utter rubbish.

I read this book ages ago now, but when I did read it it was great. It is quite an emotional read & I did cry on some parts. The reason why I gave it four stars though is only because I didn't like the way it ended!
