Top Drawer!!! - By: Patrick Duffy, 17 Jun 2004
An enjoyable read full of interesting facts about Phil "The Power" Taylor who made historyin the World of Darts. I found it thoroughly easy to read & was quite surprised with the backgroundin which he grew up which explains why Phil Taylor is a hard worker.
The book captures the high's & the low's of his career. From starting off when Eric Bristow sponsoring him, winning his first World Championship, to his darkest hour when he was charged with assault & to present day. It is also interesting to learn about the dispute between the British Darts Organisation & the Professional Darts Corporation (what was formerly the WDC) & how it affected the lives of darts players on all sides.
Phil covers events from some legendary matches & there are some nice stories about some of the players also. We get the run up to his televised nine dart finish & also read about Team Taylor.
Overall you'll find yourself turning over the pages of this book with ease.
"Power-ful" ! - By: M. D Roberts, 16 Mar 2004
This extremely well written book is an immensely enjoyable read which runs as smoothly as a novel from beginning to end.
The book outlinesin remarkable detail, the career of Phil Taylor, from the early days of his youth to his 10th World Darts Championship win.
The "rags to riches" story will hold the reader's attention throughout. It is a story which is an inspiration to everyone about what can be achieved through application & hard work. An incredible story which has not finished yet.
Many issues are covered, including Phil Taylor's relation with Eric Bristow & numerous other figures throughout the darting world. In-depth coverage is also provided of an abundance of pivotal dart matches with many legendary figures & which include numerous championships played throughout the World.
One important issue covered is the contentious dispute between the British Darts Organisation & the Professional Darts Corporation (formerly WDC) & how this affected the future of darts itself. It's affect upon many individual dart players, including Phil Taylor, illustrate just how contentious that particular issue was.
This autobiography of Phil Taylor translates to the reader as if Phil is talking to the individual himself. It is a fascinating story & a book which I highly recommend to everyone whether they have an interestin darts or not. Thank you for your time.
